Tour Itinerary

Enjoy the beauty of spring in the Central Otago, join in the Alexandra Blossom Festival parade, explore the beauty and history of Cromwell and visit the Highland Motor Sport Museum. A special experience and an unforgettable journey. Our Alexandra tour starts in Christchurch and finishes in Queenstown or Christchurch. Group size 4-9 people.


Day 1: Christchurch to Oamaru

On leaving Christchurch we travel through the Canterbury Plains with the Southern Alps as the backdrop. We stop for a delightful garden visit with morning tea an hour south of Christchurch. Our next stop will be at the Temuka Pottery café where you can enjoy browsing at pottery with a bite to eat, we then arrive at our hotel in Oamaru for an early dinner before joining the Little Blue Penguin tour for the evening. Day 2: Oamaru to Cromwell

This morning we explore the historic precinct of Oamaru with its quaint shops, and you might enjoy the Steampunk Museum experience before we go to the seaside town of Moeraki where we have a table booked at Fleurs for lunch. We then travel through north Otago to Cromwell, our base for the next three nights. BD

Day 3: Cromwell to Alexandra to Cromwell

After breakfast today we drive to Alexandra for the famous Blossom Festival and Parade This historic Festival has marked the arrival of spring for 60 years, this year being its Diamond Jubilee. The first festival was born out of community spirit and recognition of the special character of Alexandra. B.D

Day 4: Cromwell

Enjoy visiting some local gardens to soak up the joys of spring, lunch at Mt Difficulty overlooking the blossoming orchards and surrounding mountains, a visit to Highlands Motorsport park for a look through the fabulous vehicle collection. ( if you would like to take a spin around the track let us know and we can arrange this for you as an extra cost) later we can explore the historic precinct of Cromwell with its array of shops. Dinner in Cromwell tonight. B.D

Day 5: Cromwell to Queenstown
Stop for a fruit ice cream at a fruit stall a must do if you like ice cream then, we visit the historical Gold Fields mining centre on the banks of the Kawarau River, enjoy the thrill of a jet boat ride, a food and wine matched lunch and looking around the Chinese gold mining village with the chance to pan for gold!  We will visit Arrowtown on our way to Queenstown with a fabulous farewell dinner tonight. Lake view rooms. BLD

Day 6: Queenstown to Christchurch

After breakfast it’s time to say goodbye, you may like to arrange a shuttle to Queenstown Airport, or you can drive to Christchurch with your guide arriving by 5.30pm. B
