Tour Details

A lovely small group tour, to explore and discover the nature art and scenery of Golden Bay and Farewell Spit. 5 days/4 nights with lots of interesting inclusions. Visit local artists, enjoy a 6 hour guided Farewell Spit Tour, and an Abel Tasman boat tour.

Itinerary

Day 1Nelson

Fly directly to Nelson airport around mid-day to be met by your tour guide. Enjoy lunch at a Waimea winery. We then tour around Nelson to see homes gardens and history before arriving at our harbour-side accommodation, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant tonight. L.D

Day 2Nelson to Collingwood

After breakfast we visit some Nelson art and craft displays. Travelling over Takaka Hill we will visit the site of the Ngarua Caves before getting a spot of lunch and visiting some art galleries in Takaka, later arriving at our accommodation for the next two nights in Collingwood. B.D

Day 3Collingwood to Pohara Beach

Enjoy a 6 hour guided Farewell Spit Eco Tour which includes driving to the most northern point of the South Island to see the cliff top dunes of Farewell Spit and the migrant wading birds on the intertidal plain, a tour not to be missed. Enjoy dinner at the local tavern tonight to round off a fabulous day of nature’s wonders. B.L.D

Day 4Pohara Beach to Anatoki Valley to Pohara Beach

Enjoy a tour of some of the icons of Collingwood in the morning before visiting Te Waikoropupu Springs (or ‘Pupu Springs’) famous for the clarity of the water, enjoy a short walk on boardwalks around the springs. We will visit the Anatoki Valley and you can try your hand at salmon fishing, (this gives you the opportunity to take home your hot smoked catch in a sealed bag, pay for what you catch on the day). Tonight’s accommodation is in beachside motels in an idyllic spot at Pohara Beach. You may like to take a short walk before going out for dinner tonight. B.D

Day 5Pohara Beach to Nelson

This morning we drive to the Abel Tasman coastline to meet your boat for a scenic Abel Tasman boat cruise from Totaranui to Kaiteriteri Beach, your guide will meet you as you get off the boat to drive to Mapua wharf for lunch by the water, then on to Nelson city. B
