Join us on an expedition to discover the beautiful remote Catlins region, and savour the taste of Bluff Oysters. Fly by plane to  Stewart Island and enjoy a  nature tour through native bush with siting’s of native bird life. Visit Manderville Aviation Centre and Transport World in Invercargill.

Day 1Christchurch to Dunedin

Pick up from Christchurch approximately 9.30 am enjoy the journey south through farmland stopping at east coast townships on the way to Dunedin. We stay at a hotel in central Dunedin and enjoy a meal together tonight. D

Day 2Dunedin to Catlins

After breakfast we travel south to start our expedition on the Scenic Southern route. Explore the attractions of Owaka Township, take a walk at Nugget Point where there are spectacular coastal views. We will overnight at our accommodation located off the beaten track in the heart of the Catlins. B.D

Day 3Catlins to Invercargill

Depart after breakfast to see more scenic points of interest on our way to Invercargill, like Slope Point, the southernmost point of the South Island, and the fossilized forest at Curio Bay, as we follow the southern coastal route to Invercargill. Get a bite of lunch before strolling around at the Bill Richardson transport museum before checking in to our accommodation and later an evening meal out with your group. B.D

Day 4Invercargill to Bluff return to Invercargill

Depart after breakfast for the big day out at the Bluff Oyster Festival, we take our own vehicle to Bluff and enjoy the festival all day. Return to our accommodation with a free night to do as you please. B

Day 5Invercargill - Stewart Island

A leisurely start to the day before catching our plane to Stewart Island, enjoy an afternoon minivan tour exploring landmarks and hear the history of Oban, then spend time exploring, or just absorb the tranquillity of the island. In the evening, we will experience some southern hospitality with dinner at the South Seas Hotel. B D

Day 6Stewart Island to Invercargill

After breakfast we visit Ulva Island, strolling around the excellent walking tracks amongst predator free podocarp forest, home to many endangered species. Return to Oban town-ship where we will have lunch before flying back to the mainland overnighting in Invercargill. B D

Day 7Invercargill to Queenstown

After breakfast we drive to Gore with visits to the museum, Eastern Southland Art Gallery, Mandeville Aircraft museum for lunch and stops at other points of interest, great views of Lake Wakatipu on the way to Queenstown. Staying in Queenstown with dinner out. B D

Day 8Queenstown to Christchurch

After breakfast you can choose to stay on in Queenstown or travel back to Christchurch with your guide. Arriving Christchurch by 5.30pm. B
